Saturdays around here are usually a pretty lazy affair. We spend a lot of time on our computers and drinking coffee. Usually we only rouse ourselves for a good walk. This morning we headed to Campbell Valley Park in Langley, BC, not far from where we live. It’s a multi-use park for people, dogs and horses. I quite often go through the park on horse back, but I also really enjoy the 29 kilometres of trails on foot, especially when I get to see my very, very, very happy dog enjoying herself. Today I was blown away by how much everything is starting to “green” up. The buds are just on the brink of bursting on all the trees. We saw lots of ducks and birds, but no squirrels or deer this time. I’m grateful for those who came before us and recognized the importance of keeping this little natural oasis in our growing community.

You can almost see the ghosts from summers past sitting on the sidewalk engrossed in conversation and drinking lattes!
A few crocuses popped up in my garden this week, and I almost jumped for joy. It’s official…I made it through another blah January and February in one piece. Hallelujah! For those of you lucky enough to wake up to sunshine for most of the year, and might not get the reference about January and February, it rains, rains, rains, rains, here in the winter months.
It’s a drizzly grey morning here on the Wet Coast of BC. and I was so drowsy that I took a sloshing cup of coffee in the car with me while I dropped the kids at school. When I got back home, I was muttering to myself about the dreary weather as I snuck toward the back of my house (I was wearing my pink pajama bottoms under my coat and didn’t want ANYONE to see me…that’s the way I roll). As I walked through the garden gate, an amazing thing happened. A blanket of the most exquisite perfume enveloped me and made me stop in my tracks. Now I don’t know if it’s the rain that intensified the smell, but my honeysuckle vine’s scent was absolutely heavenly, and I stood there for a couple of minutes just drinking in the pure pleasure of that experience. Thank you, rain!!!!
It’s snowing outside and I’m dreaming of warmer days filled with bulbs blooming and budding branches! In the meantime, here’s a little Spring eye candy shots from Dreamy Whites
