Grade 11 Math Hell

Project 365 Photos: #40

Have you tried to help a teenager with grade 11 math lately? Me neither!!!!! I know my limitations. My son is studying tonight, and I happened to spot his open textbook. I literally shuddered when I saw the words, “Your Turn”. This is stuff that I still have nightmares about.

One of my top 3 days of the year is just four sleeps away! I love Valentine’s Day. When I was a kid, I kind of dreaded the day, because I was a bespectacled chubby redhead, who never got valentines from boys…until grade seven that is. That was the year my life changed. I found a little paper valentine card with a picture of a heart and the words, “Be mine”, tucked into my book by the boy of my dreams. He and I spent a lot of time together alone in the library ’cause we excelled at math and were a year ahead of our classmates (yeah…that’s how I roll). We actually spent a lot of our time laughing and goofing around (yeah…that’s how I roll too).

Ever since the thrill of that exquisite little card, I have absolutely adored Valentine’s Day. Okay…you can wipe the tears from your eyes…so touching.

Okay. It’s official. I’m obsessed with tulips. But having said that, let’s be clear that I’ll be obsessed with roses when they bloom, peonies when they’re in season, poppies, sweet peas… You name it, I love flowers.

I’m playing catch-up today. I was hit by the lovely Norwalk virus yesterday, so I was not really in the mood to photograph anything. Today I’m feeling a little better, so I couldn’t resist playing around with some studio (AKA: my bedroom window) shots.

Aqua Robots

I’m really inspired by colour. If I had a favourite colour, it would be aqua. Add robots to the mix, and I go crazy. When it comes to photographing, I’m instantly drawn to colours, like a crow that spots a fry from a mile away! The shoppers in the Whistler Lush store must have thought I was nuts shooting pictures of these adorable bath bombs–crazy tourist!!! Here’s a shout-out to the Lush girls, who helped me out with my photos! I’ve got a great one of Inka that I’ll profile tomorrow.

Blackcomb Panorama

Project 365 Photos: #31

What a treat! My daughter is still willing to be seen in public with me (sort of), so we decided to spend a couple of days skiing together in Whistler. This is the top of Blackcomb Mountain looking west over the Coastal Mountain range. Little did I know that we would have to feel our way down the mountain through that bank of fog when we were finished at the top for the day.

I’ve gotta give some love to my i-phone! I caught the Olympic rings at Whistler this evening compliments of my phone! I never could have done that without a tripod and a lot of patience with my DSLR camera (the photographers among you are probably scoffing at me right about now). So here’s to you i-phone…you rock my world.

beignet heaven

Project Photo 365: #21

My teenaged son came home from school yesterday afternoon and just about collapsed when he saw the batch of mouth-watering beignets I whipped up for him. He’s quite concerned about my mental health, because ever since the beginning of January, I’ve been trying out new recipes and, I quote, “actually making really good stuff”.

Poor kid. What he doesn’t know is that the urge to deep fry only hits me once every two or more years, and passes pretty quickly, once I get a whiff of the greasy smell in my kitchen–even after I’ve cleaned the kitchen. Yuck!

Well…fatigue knocked me on my rear-end today! I went to the gym, went grocery shopping, picked up the kids and then just ground to a STOP. I couldn’t even make dinner. I think I’ll turn off the T.V. early tonight and get some sleep. Tomorrow is another day 🙂
