the office…

My office is a downer! There I said it! I have stacks of catalogues, correspondence, accounting papers, product samples and coffee cups scattered all over the place (and I mean all over the place, which absolutely drives my assistant into conniption fits…I can recall a few expletives flung in my direction).

The clean-up part is obvious…the design is more evasive. Should it be modern or classic, sparse or cozy, dark or light, etc.? I’m starting to collect ideas and it may take a while, but I will come up with a scheme. All input is welcome…and greatly appreciated.

  1. Do I detect a hint of Eames in those chairs? The predominant use of white indoors is a great way to bring light indoors. It’s also a great break from the use of dark wood we see so much of lately.
I have to say that the bright white has the edge here. You can warm it up with accent colours (for you turquoise et al) or cool it even further with an icy silver blue or lavender. Wood is great for tone on tone but can be overwhelming in a small room. Wood tends to be it’s own accent, depending on the type of grain and colour chosen and I just think it limits you. I’m sure thousands would disagree but, as you can tell I sure favour one of the many shades of white as the foundational colour.
Now you’ve got me thinking about a project I have in the workroom …. Thanks. Dori
